Well, a while back I covered professional players actually admitting to them taking drugs, which is commonplace in some sports but how does Drug Testing in E-Sports work out?
During big competitions, the drug is Adderall a prescription drug used to treat Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
Essentially what the drug would do is give you the ability to stay focused during big tournaments and the policies for the electronic sports league never really touched on this issue. However, all that is about to change due to the professional player admitting publicly that he and his teammates were all drugged up during big-money tournaments the electronic sports league (ESL) has been stated saying that they will and I am abridging this here.
That it would test players for performance-enhancing drugs starting at a tournament in August. E.S.L. said it would work with two international agencies — the same ones that help oversee anti-doping policies for cycling, the Olympics and other sports — to create anti-doping guidelines and a testing program for players.
I am happy in regards to the fact they are finally drug testing so actual good players can win instead of drugged-up cheaters. Cheaters tend to ruin games and the communities around games same with thieves and I speak from experience in this aspect. It is however kind of sad that it took a professional player publicly admitting to this to actually have things changed.
They also go on to say that the professional player in question Cory “Semphis” Friesen could not be drug tested due to the tournament he was in ending four months ago and also that they have no way of really confirming.
If the statement he said was true that he and his teammates all were drugged up during the tournament they were participating in.
Although I am willing to bet before the next tournament they enter they will be drug tested after it has ended due to his previous statement on YouTube. All we can do now is hope that mainstream media like fox news decide not to slate the article in start saying all gamers are drug addicts now or gaming gets people not only angry but also promotes the mistreatment of your body.
Although let’s be honest that is probably going to happen anyways in regards to what has been going on here even if the ESL is considered an official sport now there are always those few people out there that will go out of their way to ruin the fine title we all have as gamers.
