Haven Review: Mr. Game!

There are all sorts of video games in the world, so rarely do we feel the urge to jump back to traditional tabletop games such as Monopoly, Scrabble, Clue and of course Battleship. However that hasn’t stopped people from making them. Nowadays you can play Cards Against Humanity, but what good game is there that’s filled with chaos, but not rude and DSC_0012vulgar? Well there was a Kickstarter project a while back for a tabletop game called Mr.Game!

Mr. Game! is a game where you roll dice and move across spaces, much as you do in many tabletop games. However the catch is that one player out of everyone has to be “Mr. Game” (or “Ms. Game”, depending on who gets picked). It’s up to them to sort out the rules and answer any questions that arise. This happens more often than you might think.

The game is utter chaos, but the good party kind that you play with friends who love you one minute and probably want to stab you the next. The game itself is pretty straightforward. Roll the dice, move around the board and try to land on your goal space. Once you land on the goal space you win! However, cards and obstacles are on the board to hinder your movement, and you will have to combat other players to get to your goal space.DSC_0014

Now the game has a few varied modes that I recommend you try. To be completely honest, I haven’t gotten around to the rest yet. But I can assure you I will when I get some friends over. An issue I have with the game is that its visual appearance is very classic, much like the traditional board game Sorry, although it’s not really a bad thing. When you stop and think about it, board games have a type of artistic flare to them; a designer’s prerogative, if you will. I just don’t really like the old-fashioned look, but that’s just my taste and style.

I must say though, the game is one of the best and most well-designed traditional board games I’ve played in a while. MrGameI recommend picking it up if you have extra money laying around and want to have a good time with your friends. I also really love the fact that the rulebook is literally only six pages long, so someone with ADHD like myself can maintain focus long enough to read the rules all the way through. They even use bold print, so it’s kind of like double-spacing on your college essays. You can finish it quicker and make it stand out a bit more.

Overall, if you like board games and are looking for something that’s a bit chaotic…like Cards Against Humanity…look no further. We’ve found the solution!

Enjoy your gaming, Everyone!

Haven Review: The Jackbox Party Pack 2

First up is our disclaimer. We received this game for review purposes only, and as such all opinions in this review are our own. No money has been exchanged for this review.

The Jackbox Party Pack is by far one of the best ways to have a good time with your friends while playing at home or online, and the titles included in it are always worth it. My favorite game in the collection is “Fibbage”, where you’ve got to create cunning lies to fool your friends and score points.

Now I cannot say a lot in comparison to the original Jackbox Party Pack, as I never owned it, but I have played it with a few friends online. Now getting right down to it…is the Jackbox Party Pack 2 worth it? Totally; assuming you have friends to play with or you are interested in live-streaming it and getting your viewers involved.games_jackboxpartypack2__article-house-780x440

Party Pack 2 comes with all new games, as well as one from the original Party Pack. The new games are “Bomb Corp”, “Quiplash”, “Bidiots”, and “Earwax”.

In Bomb Corp players have to disarm bombs to win points. The bombs however are scattered around the office and you’ve got to defuse them to keep your job. As a bonus it’s good on-the-job experience (and I totally just ripped that off from the Steam page).

Bidiots is  game where you focus on bidding, and I had a lot of fun with this one. Outbidding your friends for stupid art pieces drawn by your friends and family makes for fair entertainment; even more so if your friends are a tiny bit wasted.

Earwax forces players to think of what they are hearing and guess what it is…and it can get fairly stupid at times. But let’s be honest, if it wasn’t ridiculous would you even consider playing it? The only problem with this game is that it was difficult to hear at times, but it’s still fun to guess at the sounds.JPP2_BrandBits

Overall the games are hilariously amazing and I really enjoyed them. My only problem is getting my live-stream going so my friends and I can play every now and then. Is it worth investing in? If you’ve got a good Internet connection and want to have a good time with your local friends or online, then oh yea…this is totally worth it and it will most definitely bring you a good laugh.

You can play on tablets, smart phones and on computers. You can party for hours on-end. Bring the Doritos; it going to be an awfully long night.

Haven Review: Hidden in Plain sight

First up is our disclaimer.  We got this game because we wanted to review it, and as such

urlHidden in Plain sight is a PC game meant mainly for having friends over and partying.
Where you and your friends have to play thru stages looking for this that are quite literally hidden in plain sight.

The game takes a lot of interesting elements such as hide of go seek and builds a game around them or a simple case of who killed who. In which the players all look the same but have to act and blend in so your friends don’t figure out who you are killing or who you are in the game.

My only problem with the game is the graphics don’t really appeal to me although sometimes simple is better I wish they put more effort into making the game more visually appealing.
The challenges of the game ultimately depend on who you are playing with also if you are playing with a friend who understands the rules and how the game works you can have hours of fun.NinjaParty If you are playing with someone who is just messing around the game remains uninteresting and quite dull at times. Controller support for the game is quite good as it gives you the option to use either controller, keyboard, or a mouse I always use the controller personally but thats just me.

Is it a game worth checking out, heck for the price get some friends over and have fun.
I played with my wife and we both enjoyed ourselves at how fun this game was to play.
