Nerd Editorial: Margot Robbie talks Suicide Squad

Margot Robbie while talking about her new movie coming out called “Focus”
the question was asked how she came into the role of becoming the worlds
infamous villain Harley Quinn.

Margot went onto say.
“I actually got offered this one, I didn’t audition, which is a real step up as an actor when you can get offered things,”
GalleryFuturesEnd_Wk2_1900x900_NSS-New3d-final02_B_5376398a95fed0.91943315So right from the get go they found her to be crazy enough to be the Jokers infamous sidekick in crazy. With Will Smith slated to play Dead Shoot one cannot help but wonder
if the Bats will show up at any more in time in the movie seeing as how the universe DC is building up takes place around the Batman vs Superman movie.

Margot also went onto say that the suicide squad is dark and gritty like the Dark Knight trilogy
and not as fantastic as the Avengers movie. Well from this DC fan I hope the movie they are making is going to be amazing and I personally can’t wait to see the twist they take on things.

Nerd Editorial: Ultron DOES have strings, and they’re pulled by Joss Whedon

So Joss Whedon finally came out and started talking about Ultron in the new Avengers: Age of Ultron film coming out in May. You can find a link to an interview here (http://geektyrant.com/news/joss-whedon-discusses-ultrons-powers-in-avengers-age-of-ultron) where Whedon talks about how he had to play with Ultrons powers to make sure that the general audience could understand Ultrons power. For those unaware, according to comic lore, Ultron was a supervillain created by Avengers member Hank Pym with the brain patterns of his creator. You could draw parallels to Mary Shelly’s Frankenstein, merely with robots instead of body parts.

200120_press01Based on that interview, I like where Whedon is taking Ultron and the twins of Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch. I feel that there comes a point where when a machine devlops AI (Ultron, Brainiac, Skynet, pick your poison), there’s only so much you can do before they wipe out the globe (terminator, the Matrix, etc.). I’m not sure how much story writing you could about a group of Superheros when there is no world left to save. I digress though. I feel that “nerfing” Ultron will be best for business, and should Ultron find a way into another film in the future, they can supersize his powers then. For a first outing though, all I can say is ASSEMBLE!

Nerd Editorial: The New Spider-man is Black?

There’s a new kid on the block in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that a lot of people have already heard about by now going by the name of both Spider and Man. This is amazing news for fans of comic book movies and comic book fans alike to say the least. This came about because Sony, current owner of the rights to make Spider-Man movies, decided to “rent out” their Friendly Neighborhood Wall Crawler to Disney (everyone celebrates inside). That being said, there’s a fun rumor running around the mill that I think deserves some attention.download

Miles Morales, aka “The black kid who plays spider-man” is rumored to be our web-slinger as opposed to movie rebooted/rehashed Peter Parker. If there is any truth to this story, I for one would love to see this happen. There’s a rather large gap in superhero movies between white people and black people. Personally I can only think of 4 Black superheros in these comics that have really graced our screen, those being Blade from the Blade trilogy, War Machine from the Iron Man trilogy, Nick Fury from most of the Marvel movies so far, and Falcon from Captain America 2. That’s not even to bring up the disparity between men and women, but we’ll get to that issue another time.

imagesI think having a black Spider-man would be great, not because he’s black for the record. Miles Morales actually is a very intriguing character all on his own. Disney has gone on record to say Spider-man will from this point on be incorporated within their movies. That being said, who really would want to see another Peter Parker orgin story? Not I for one. Miles Morales story in a nutshell is that Peter Parker was killed and his blood was taken by Oscorp. They did some more spider-tests attempting to replicate a Spider-man they could control. Miles’ uncle worked for that division, brought home a stow-away spider, which proceeded to bite Miles. Miles is very unhappy with the idea of being a superhero, something else that brings a full contrast between Miles and Peter.

Civil War, featuring our Disney Spider-man (Miles or Peter), will be released May 5th, 2016 and the first Spider-man solo fil will be released on July 28th, 2017. Which Spider-man would you like to see?
